Susan appears as S. W. with her husband, J. F. Jones (James

Ferdinand Jones), in the 1860 Williamsburg Co., SC, census and as

Susanna in the 1870 census, again in Williamsburg with her husband J. F.

Jones.

 

Note in the 1860 census that J. H. and H. H. Singletary were living with

J. F. Jones. They were the children of Rectina J. P. Gordon and

Ebenezer D. Singletary. [Check Ebenezer's will, 1849, for first name

information.] Note that Rectina J. P.'s tombstone says she was the

"consort of J. F. Jones". The L. N. Jones child in the 1860 census is

probably Rectina's.

 

Rectina is listed as R. J. Singletary in the 1850 Marion Co., SC census,

living with her brother, A. B. Gordon, and 4 Singletary children. The

first two children were not Singletary's, but Lewellen's. See the next

paragraph for how this is true.

 

Rectina J. P. Gordon is the daughter of Roger Gordon, Marion Co., SC,

who died sometime between 1846 and 1850, inclusive. In her father's

will, Rectina is listed as Rectina Jane Priestley Lewallan(sic). Also

mentioned were Roger Gordon's grandchildren, Jesse B. and Benjamin F.

Luallen(sic).

Marion Co. Equity Records --Alfred B. Gordon was appointed guardian of

Jesse Burks and Benjamin F. Lewellen

on 25 March 1846, bondsmen: A.B. Gordon, Roger Gordon, and John W.

Singletary.

 

Thus,

Rectina Jane Priestley Gordon was the child of Roger Gordon

Rectina Jane Priestley Gordon married a Lewellen(sp?) [1st]

Rectina Jane Priestley Gordon had 2 children in her marriage to a

Lewellen(sp?).

Rectina Jane Priestley Gordon married Ebenezer D. Singletary [2nd]

Rectina Jane Priestley Gordon had 2 children in her Singletary marriage.

 

Rectina Jane Priestley Gordon m. James Ferdinand Jones [3rd]

Rectina had more children by J. F. Jones and died about

1859....tombstone year.

Rectina's tombstone states her last husband's name as J. F. Jones.

James Ferdinand Jones then marries Susanna/Susan W. and has more

children.
