French families denizened the same day that Mr. Prioleau and his family were denizened in England, names that in
later years are familiar in Carolina, indicate reasons for the supposition that at least a number followed their spiritual
leader to England and subsequently to South Carolina. (I have not been able to find any Videau in any existing Pons
Huguenot or Catholic Registers. However, his son is listed in St. Martin de Râe, Ile de Re 1685 register as being from
La Rochele.)

Pierre Videau was reportedly a son of Pierre Videau(l) and Madelaine Burgaud. According to First Settlers in South Carolina, 1670-1700, Jeanne Elizabeth Videau's father (Pierre) arrived in South Carolina before October 5, 1698. Also, according to History of the Huguenot Emigration to America, v. 1, p. 297, fn. 4, Pierre Videau (father of Jeanne Elizabeth Videau) "was among the inhabitants of Santee who applied, about the year 1696, to be naturalized with his wife Jeanne Elizabeth (Sleigh) and their daughter Jeanne Elizabeth, born in London, and with their children Pierre Nicholas, Marianne, Marthe Est(h)er, Judith, Jeanne, and Madelaine, born in Carolina."
The Annals of St Thomas and St Denis Parish, Page 8.
A small church was erected, in which divine worship was occasionally celebrated by the Rev. Mr. Prioleau and
the Rev. Dr. LeJeau. The services were well attended. The names of these Huguenot families, as the earliest
on record in the Parish Register, are supposed to have been Bonneau, Bochett, Bellin, Bremar, Brabant,
Bossard, Carriere, DuPre, Dutarque, DeLonguemar, Durant; Duberdeaux, Dubois, Guerin, Joly, Jaudon,
LeJeau, Leroux, Lesesne, Mouzon, Marbeuf, Poitvine, Roulain, St. Martin, Simons or Symonds, Syer,
Sallens, Tresvin, Verine, Verone, Videau and Warbeuf.
