Note on Husband: John Calvin TIMMONS
I can find no document evidence that this John is the father of the sons listed, but many accept this as being true. It is possible that the true father of these sons is the "old Mr. Timmings" who had land on the south side of the Tyger River that was first recorded in Anson County, NC, but was later found to be in SC.
John Timmons fought in the Viginia 8th and 12th Regiments for George Washington as Sergant. He enlisted in the Virginia 12th Regiment Dec 1, 1776 for 3 years and retired at about age 60 in Dec. 1779 from the Virginia 8th Regiment.

There are several records for John in the Order Books, the last is 6 November 1771.
There are many more records of this John Timmons (abt.1718-1799) in Virginia. John Timmons carried chain on the Brooke 1729 Shenandoah Tract survey. 5 The Shenandoah Valley is the right location for this John Timmons, and he could have "carried chain" at an early age. In old Frederick County VA at the October 1743 court, Samuel Timmons and others were ordered to work on a road from Blue Ball to "Asbies bent branch." (This is a reference to the Ashby family that had an association with the Timmons. Thomas Ashby owned over 1500 acres in the Shenandoah Valley and was a guide for 1736 surveys in the valley.)
Below are entries from William Allason's Shenandoah Store Day book in Winchester, VA (Frederick Co.), selected and transcribed by William E. Timmons as originally in "The Magazine of Virginia Genealogy", Vol. 34, No. 1, 2 & 3.

There are also several entries in the store's day book for a Daniel Morgan. This is most likely the famous Brigadier General Daniel Morgan known for his victory at Cow Pens that was the turning point of the Revolutionary War. Rev. Benjamin Allen said that a Col. Morgan Morgan came from Pennsylvania to VA around 1726 and built the first cabin on the Virginia side of the Potomac6. (However, there is evidence of settlement as early as 1707.) Note the November 14, 1761 for Capt Nimrod Ashbey for Mrs Timmons and Mr. Daniell Morgan for Mrs Timmons. Also 16 Dec 1761 that says "John Timmons p. Morgan".
Note on Child 1: John Calvin(?) TIMMONS
John is documented to have fought for Francis Marion at the Battle of Eutaw Springs (1782). Also his brothers Samuel, Thomas and Abner fought for the Swamp Fox. (Who is the Jesse Timmons on the Francis Marion Nov. 1779 roll?)
Note that the will below says that this is John Senior. But in the Audited accounts (AA7816 page 7) Samuel calls John his brother. Also, Thomas in X1252, mentions John, with adjacent entry X1251 for Abner and X1253 for Samuel with the same date. Entries Z296 and Z297 for Samuel and John are adjacent and the same date, even though not in alphabetical order. These and other reasons, along with yDNA tests makes me believe that this John's father is the John Timmons that had other sons of Samuel, Thomas, Moses and Abner.

"History of South Carolina" Volume 4, by David Duncan Wallace, published by The American Historical Society, New York,
1932, page 457 says - "The founder of the Timmons family in America was a French Huguenot, according to tradition, and an officer of the French Navy. Though settled in Charleston, his son John was born in Virginia in 1740, but located in South Carolina, marrying Mary or Mollie Simmons of North Carolina."
It goes on to positively identify this John TIMMONS as mine by listing his location and his sons. However, above this it
states "Daniel Jr. [MYERS]...married Francis SIMMONS, sister of Mary who married John TIMMONS."

"The Roster of South Carolina Patriots in the American Revolution" by Moss, Page 933, lists Capt. John Timmons with a reference of the "Yearbook 1893". That Charleston City yearbook reprinted a 1886 list of Officers by DeSaussure. In it, on page 236 of the yearbook, it lists Capt. John Timmons with a reference of "Mill's Statistics South Carolina". In Statistics of South Carolina by Mills, 1826, page 627, in the Marion County section under Eminent Men, it says "Captain John Timmons, of Pedee, was a brave officer, and was killed at the Eutaws". Since, in the Audited Accounts, John Timmons swears that a fellow soldier that fought with him at the Eutaws was wounded and deserves compensation, and since he wrote a will in 1818, I assume that this is in error. Since Capt. John Simons was killed at the Battle of Eutahs, I assume that this all started with a mis-print.
