Buried at Hebron Baptist church, 8655 Francis Marion Road. Death Certificate 39-12924

His first grocery store was at Gardner's Crossroads near Florence, SC. He also had a stone mill and ground corn meal and grits for many other stores. He eventually had 3 stores in Florence. He raised his own beef and pork and could grade them on the hoof.

He could yodel great.

Henry Timmons was a jokster. He often gave to others even when his family was without.

8 James "Jimmy" Harrell TIMMONS (1857-1930) [15]. Born 8 Feb 1857, Friendfield, SC. Died 7 Dec 1930. Buried 8 Dec 1930, Hebron Baptist 3rd row to right of gate (no markers).

21 in 1880 census, 10 in 1870.

Jimmy and his brother George married sisters, Lillie and Belton Cockfield. Jimmy had 3 daughters die when babies. Buried in row with wife Lilie, Pearl, Hannah, and Cora. Raymond E. Timmons dreamed that Jimmy died Saturday night. Raymond made his parents go to Vox that Sunday morning and found that he had died.

His house is off Friendfield Rd just east of 33 56.70 -79 39.60. Was later farmed by Seymour and Cliff Bootle.

SC Death Certificate 20789 lists death as 7 Dec 1930 and date of birth 8 Feb 1857. 1900 census says 8 Feb 1858.

5 Nellie Oceola COCKFIELD (1899-1937) [10]. Born 23 Jul 1899. Died 30 Oct 1937.

Had cancer many years before death. Parni would peddle the sewing machine for her so that she could make clothes.

10 Ethan Angus COCKFIELD (1872-1948) [336]. Born 8 Aug 1872. Marr Leatha Ann J. WILLIAMSON 25 Dec 1895. Died Oct 1948.

In the obituary of E.A. Cockfield in The Florence Morning News 10 Oct 1948 it says:

E. Angus Cockfield, 77, of Lake City died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Marvin

Thornhill of Santee at 1a.m. saturday after several months illness..........

He is survived by his widow, four daughters, Mrs. W.L. Matthews of Manning,

Mrs. Marvin Thornhill of Santee, Mrs. C.H. Bootle and Mrs. Leland Dozier of Florence;

two sisters, Mrs. Ila Cockfield of Charleston, three brothers, A.T. Cockfield, Florence,

Samuel Cockfield Salters, W.J. Cockfield of Lake City.

(Mrs Marvin Thornhill is Maggie COCKFIELD.)

He lived with us some while he was sick (right after I was born).

Angus had sister Ila who married a Cockfield?

11 Leatha Ann J. WILLIAMSON (1880-1956) [337]. Born 6 May 1880. Died 1956. Buried Olanta Baptist Cemetery (No Marker) Hiway 301.

She inherited a lot of land. She said she could walk from Lake City to Johnsonville without leaving her property. Her husband Angus had a drinking problem and lost most of the land.

6 Charles "Charlie" McDuffie COOK (1876-1938) [13]. Born 17 Nov 1876, Barrineau Crossroads, SC. Marr Exie Oliva MCCUTCHEON 17 Dec 1914, Lake City, SC. Died 26 May 1938.

Died with heart attack 5 days after Grandaughter Nellie LeVone Timmons died. He lived 12 hours after having stroke.

Williamsburg County conveyances Book A5 page 471 (microfilm C8823), sold 225 acres to WAJ Moore in 1909 (have a

copy).

Bought land that Sandy Bay house was built on in March 1917, book A13 page 8 (roll C8832). Sold land that had house on Postcard a few months later A13 page 7. Sold to William Capers KELLY (1875-1959) and wife (Launa MOORE (1885-1962)).

1900 Census says.

Letter to Editor about death printed in Kingstree, SC paper. Granddaughter of Rev. Charlie Barrineau, a Methodist minister. 9th Child of Parents.

Born in house located near High Hill Church. Still big trees left there. They had annual family reunion under the trees for many

years. Approximate GPS location of house 33 55.11N -79 41.02W. Tombstone says born 1870.
